Candelaria Summer Sun

Nana and Grandpa moved out to Tenerife to a town called Candelaria so the family enjoyed lots of warm summer holidays in the sun. I remember skipping over the black sand as fast as I could so that I wouldn’t burn my feet! Nana had an avocado tree growing in her garden and grandpa grew some veg, they made it their home. I have lots of memories of the smells in Spain, especially the ripe avocados and tomatoes in the sun, the traditional garlicky Spanish cooking wafts gently through the air, the heady scent of cigars in the heat. I used to love going to visit my grandparents especially when I got to dress up in Nana’s very glamorous clothes and jewellery!
